A big well done to our boys U13 hockey team who have been playing brilliantly this season. Last week they travelled up to the London 2012 Olympic Park, and specifically the Lee Valley Hockey Centre, for the ISA U13 National Boys Hockey Tournament.
Throughout the morning the boys played some exceptional and relentless hockey, recording one draw and three wins, putting us top of the group and into the cup semi-finals.
Having drawn with a very strong hockey-school in the semi-final, we knew we had to be at our best to compete. After an exceptional ten minutes, our boys came through victorious and took their place in the final of the cup competition. We were down to the last two schools. Unfortunately, the boys couldn’t find that last push and were beaten by a very efficient opposition team.
This achievement of getting to a national final is huge. The ISA competitions allow us to compete against like sized schools, giving us a fair reflection of our abilities as a school. This is the first time a Leweston senior boy's team has made a national final of any description – a huge feat. This result didn’t happen overnight, the meticulous planning of training and fixtures, coupled with the commitment and dedication from the students has enabled this achievement. The future is very bright!
