The determination and resilience of our athletes at Leweston never fails to inspire us, and the first half of the Spring Term 2024 has been just as remarkable. Just a handful of examples of the excellent sport we have seen so far can be read below.
NATIONAL SHOOLS' PISTOL SHOOTING COMPETITION
A big congratulations to Leweston’s Intermediate Team who were crowned National Schools’ Pistol Shooting Champions at the National Schools’ Shooting Championships, for the third year in a row. Further congratulations to Hen, Evanna and Lucy for finishing with Gold and to all other students who competed.
ISA BOYS HOCKEY BOWL
In another National event, our U13 Boys’ competed at the ISA U13 Hockey Championships. They performed really well, playing their final in the London 2012 Olympics Hockey Stadium and finishing as ISA National U13 Boys Hockey Bowl Silver Medalists.
SWIMMING
Congratulations to Katrina who qualified for the Dorset County Championships and swam a phenomenal 100m Freestyle in 1:14:36, knocking a huge 4.55 seconds off her PB!
U15 NORTH DORSET SCHOOLS NETBALL TOURNAMENT
Well done to our U15 Girls’ Netball team who placed 3rd in the North Dorset Schools’ Netball Tournament. Playing 5 matches, winning 2 and drawing one. In doing so, the team have qualified for the Dorset County Tournament after half term.
STUDLAND STAMPEDE
This term saw another excellent day for the annual Studland Stampede, superbly hosted by Canford School. Our pupils and staff had an amazing time competing on the beach in the sunshine. Special mention goes to; Charlie for taking 1st place in the Inter Boys, Alice and Ellie who claimed 2nd place in the Senior and Junior Girls respectively, and Grace who was 3rd in the Junior Girls.
SOUTH WEST EPEE BYC FENCING
Well done to our students who competed at the South West Epee BYC Fencing at Millfield School. Leweston achieved some brilliant results including; Aidan U12 Silver, Jess U16 Silver, and Reuben U16 Bronze. All three have been selected for the Regional team plus Katrina U14 Tom U18 and Jay U16.
These outstanding results have made for a brilliant half term of sport, and we eagerly await the future accomplishments of our talented students.
