U16 and U14 boys’ hockey teams successfully qualified for the regional hockey tournaments at Millfield by winning their respective county competitions.
U14 The U14 Boys qualified for the South West Regional Hockey tournament at Millfield on 27 February after winning all qualifying matches at the tier two Dorset tournament. The team were extremely excited and had some great results in the matches leading to the tournament. They entered the tournament with high hopes, playing five pool matches in, what proved to be, a high standard of play which was, for many of the boys, their first experience playing a tournament of this level. The team played with determination and commitment in all games, drawing and narrowly missing out on a win from the day. Despite this, the team and coach, Mr Slater, were proud of their play and take away a lot of learning for their future development from the day.
U16 The boys had an incredibly successful day. Two wins in the pool stages saw the boys successfully reach the cup semi-finals. This is the furthest any boys team has ever achieved in the history of Leweston. They played with composure and confidence, and dealt with the pressure exceptionally well. The team fought incredibly hard but unfortunately came up short losing 4-3 to the eventual winners. Congratulations to our U16 team for a monument achievement, finishing 4th in the South West.
