U12/13 Hockey Season off to a Strong Start

The Under 12 and 13 hockey season got off to a flying start last week with great matches against Sherborne Prep, Bryanston and Warminster. Each game was a fantastic opportunity to build on what they have learned and to reflect on how they could improve on the next match.

Under 12B/Under 13B v Sherborne Prep and Bryanston

The U12 and 13B boys hockey season started last week with a triangular fixture against Sherborne Prep and Bryanston. Despite the wind chill all players were focused on putting their skills to the test and putting on a great game on home turf.

The match highlighted the importance, for those who want to convert passes into goals, that regular attendance to training is important. We have some great potential in the both teams.

Under 13A v Sherborne Prep

The U13A team started their season with a match against a very strong Sherborne Prep team. After conceding an early goal, the boys quickly regrouped to assert themselves and played some very good hockey both defensively and in attack. Whilst the score line suggests a one-sided affair, it was indeed a hard-fought match with long periods of attractive play from both teams. Lots of positive aspects to take away from the game.

Under 12A/ Under 13A v Warminster

Our U12A and U13A teams had a terrific set of wins at the weekend against Warminster School. Despite the chilly and early start to Saturday, both teams worked well together. The U13As put together an excellent performance to come away with a comfortable victory of 9 - 4 against a resilient Warminster team. It was encouraging to see the boys learn and improve upon the lessons learned in their previous match with better patterns of play and more clinical ball distribution. The movement off the ball was more dynamic and several scoring opportunities were created which were converted in more clinical fashion.
