Prep 6 pupils have dipped their toes into the world of dinghy sailing this week, undertaking RYA sailing courses at Rockley Watersports in Poole.
The year group were split across two of Rockley’s Poole based venues to complete courses determined by their individual previous levels of experience. The majority of pupils took part in the two-day RYA Sailing Stage 1 introductory course at Poole Park which they thoroughly enjoyed. Four pupils (including one Prep 5 child) also undertook the two-day RYA Stage 2 course, completing it with 100% success.
A further group of more experienced Prep 6 sailors participated in the RYA intermediate ‘Start Racing’ course at the Rockley Point location, achieving their certification and sharpening their race sailing skills ahead of competing in the Dorset Primary Schools Regatta next half term.
