Leweston Chedington Riding Academy Awarded Prestigious BHS Centre Approval in First Year

Leweston Chedington Riding Academy celebrates achieving British Horse Society (BHS) Centre Approval in its first year, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to excellence in horse welfare, safety, and equestrian education. From September, the Academy will offer expanded BHS‑aligned learning pathways for students of all ages, creating exciting new opportunities across its equestrian programmes.

Leweston Chedington Riding Academy is delighted to announce that it has been awarded British Horse Society (BHS) Centre Approval in its first year of opening. This is a significant achievement that recognises the Academy’s commitment to horse welfare, rider safety, and high-quality equestrian education.

From the outset, the team at Leweston Chedington Riding Academy has strived for best practice in all that it does, with the welfare of its horses always at the forefront and education underpinning every programme. Achieving BHS Centre Approval so quickly reflects the professionalism, dedication, and care demonstrated across the Academy.

As a BHS Approved Centre, Leweston Chedington Riding Academy will follow the BHS learning pathway, creating exciting new opportunities for students to build knowledge and confidence within structured and nationally recognised progression routes.

From September, the Academy will introduce a two-year Equine Studies programme for students in Year 10, running alongside the existing BTEC Level 3 Equine Management course for Sixth Form students. Structured around the BHS Challenge Awards, students will work towards gaining their BHS Stage 1 qualification, with opportunities for some students to progress to Stage 2 through an extended programme.

Younger riders will also benefit from this exciting development, with the introduction of Pony Stars – the BHS Junior Challenge Awards as an after-school club, ensuring that equestrian education and progression is accessible from an early age.

Lorraine Roberts, Director of Riding at Leweston Chedington Riding Academy, commented:

“Becoming a BHS Approved Centre demonstrates that we are offering a professional, inclusive and safe environment and that we provide the very best standards for all the horses and riders under our care. The BHS recreational and educational programmes support learning at all levels and I am very much looking forward to offering this to the equestrian community at Leweston.”

This milestone reflects the Academy’s vision to develop knowledgeable, compassionate, and skilled horse people, and to provide clear educational pathways for students aspiring to careers in the equestrian industry.
