Year 8 France Trip

In early June, a group of Year 8 students embarked on a week-long trip to France with the aim of enhancing their French language abilities and immersing themselves in the rich culture of the country.

Ines writes about their experience below.

"Last week our year group went on a memorable trip to Avallon, a French town in Yonne, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. We stayed at Maison Claire Fontaine, a lovely "Maison" in which we created lots of memories. Every day we had a French lesson in the morning, in which we continued learning the French language in an entertaining way, including questions and sentences that would prove useful in the following days.

Upon completing our daily French lessons, we delved into various activities. On the Tuesday we went to the circus, where we discovered the art of the climbing silk, a personal favourite of mine. The following day, we embarked on a cultural journey to the palace of Versailles, a subject we had previously explored in our French studies. Throughout the week, we also went on adventures like kayaking on the serene lake, an experience that left a lasting impression on me. In the evenings, we enjoyed authentic French cuisine at a local restaurant, engaging with the waitstaff using our newly learned language skills.

Between activities we sat in the sunshine outside during our free time. As a whole year group we would practice many sports such as table tennis, football, badminton, the swings, rugby and table football. It was definitely one of the weeks of my life that I will always remember!"
