Year 7 Wilderness Camping

Between Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 June, our Year 7 students enjoyed a back-to-basics wilderness experience with the Bushcraft Company, near Badminton Woods in Gloucestershire. From fire-making and shelter-building to axe-throwing and toolmaking, the students were engaged in a fantastic array of survival activities which were equally challenging and exciting.

They also shared campfire stories, songs and riddles and competed in 'tents got talent', which saw a reprisal of 90s pop classics 'I want it that way' and 'the Macarena'.

Prizes were awarded for those students who exemplified our Leweston Learner characteristics; Confident, Adventurous, Inquisitive, Resilient and Creative. One noteworthy winner was Isaac, who won the 'adventurous' award for gleefully consuming a salmon's eyeball in the bushtucker trial.

We would like to thank all the staff at The Bushcraft Company who made the stay so enjoyable and apologise to any Year 7 parents who have had to endure the 'Bungalow' song since our return.
