The children began by learning about the different roles and responsibilities within the Royal Navy, gaining insight into the variety of careers and opportunities available. They then put this knowledge into practice through a series of fun, hands-on STEM activities, designed with a focus on our Leweston Learner characteristics.
Pupils worked collaboratively to build their own communications towers, before turning their attention to a design challenge: creating flares of their own. The morning culminated in the children launching their creations to discover whose design was the most successful — a highlight that brought plenty of excitement and healthy competition to the day!
Activities like this give our pupils a fantastic opportunity to develop their teamwork, problem-solving and resilience, while exploring the practical application of STEM skills in a real-world context.
