On Tuesday 11 February, we visited Bristol to witness the GCSE Science Live! Firstly, we listened to Professor Dave Cliff's talk! His lecture explored computer science and the increasing difficulty in creating quicker computer chips. After that, we listened to Professor Alice Roberts speak about archaeology, how scientists suspect copper was extracted from copper ore in the Bronze Age and carbon dating. After lunch, we gained some great revision tips to aim for straight 9s, such as the Pomodoro method and doing lots of little study breaks to reinforce knowledge. Finally, we finished the GCSE Science Live show by listening to Professor Robert Winston, talking about transporting an egg cell through the reproductive system and how the body adapts to protect a fertilised egg; it was surprising to learn how complex a process it is for a human to become pregnant when compared to other species, how we age in comparison to different species and how this relates to specialised cells!
