Both the Leweston U12 and U13 teams performed extremely well in the bitterly cold conditions, playing competitive netball against some strong opponents.
The U12s battled through their six matches in a round-robin format, winning four of their games and only narrowly missing out in their other two. Their third place position won them a coveted place at the County Finals to be held next month.
The U13s finished second in their group and went through to the semi-final stage. Despite losing this match, they kept their concentration and managed to beat Clayesmore 6-5 in their 3rd/4th place play-off, despite having previously lost to Clayesmore in the group stages. The girls showed immense resolve and determination in taking third place and were delighted to have achieved their qualification for the County Finals.
Leweston have had a strong start to the netball season, with teams qualifying for the County Championships at U12, U13, U14 and U15 level. The Senior Squad stands out as one of the most formidable in recent years, with the 1st VII enjoying an impressive victory against Monkton Comb School recently. This is the first time in recent memory that Leweston has had both teams qualify through to the County Finals on the same afternoon at the U12 and U13 North Dorset Tournament. We are excited to see what our teams can achieve in the second half of the season!
Thank you to all of the schools who attended the North Dorset Tournament and good luck to Blandford School, Port Regis School and Sherborne Girls, who will be joining the Leweston teams at the County Finals.
