Leweston Hosts 10th South West Schools Air Pistol Competition with Outstanding Results

Leweston shooters delivered an exceptional performance at the South West Schools Air Pistol Competition, claiming multiple team titles, individual top-ten finishes, and securing places at the National Finals.

Leweston School proudly hosted the 10th anniversary of the South West Schools Air Pistol Shooting Competition, welcoming 140 shooters from across the region. This event marks a decade since Leweston first launched and ran the competition, which has grown into a key fixture in the schools’ calendar.

Each competitor fired 20 qualifying shots - five shots for each of the four targets - at a distance of 10 m. The top eight scorers then advanced to a knock‑out final. From each region, the best teams and top three individuals qualified for the National Schools Finals.

Leweston entered fourteen pupils across three age categories:
Junior (Years 6–8), Intermediate (Years 9–10), and Senior (Years 11–13).

The school achieved outstanding results, with three juniors reaching the final: Henry C (5th), Elizabeth D (18th), and Ava H (35th); and five seniors making the final: Ruby P (6th), Maria NP (7th), Grace H (8th), Lucy G (10th), and William C (14th).

Final Team Results:

  • Senior Team Champions – Grace H, Ruby P, and Maria NP. (Our B team also placed 4th.)
  • Youth Team Champions (mixed age group) – Henry C, Grace H, and Lucy G.
  • Junior Team Bronze – Henry C, Ava H, and Elizabeth D. (Our B team also placed 9th.)

Both the Senior and Youth teams have qualified for the National Finals. In addition, Henry C is in contention for an individual qualification, having finished 5th in his final, pending confirmation of rankings.

Congratulations to all Leweston shooters for their hard work and success, and thank you to the officials and staff who made this event possible!
