For the first time in the schools history, Leweston entered the U18 ISA Rugby 7s competition in London. Our boys were well-prepared and arrived with high hopes. Despite not securing a win in the first two pool matches, after some focused team discussions, they went on to win three matches and returned as the ISA U18 Bowl Final Winners! A fantastic achievement. They look forward to attending the U18 Dorset 7s Tournament next week!
Following on from this success, our U15 Boys took part in the Dorset Schools Rugby 7s Competition on 17 March. With over 20 teams entered from a number of large secondary comprehensive schools, they went prepared for a challenge. A few schools withdrew last minute, allowing Leweston to enter two teams, giving more of our students the opportunity to participate.
On the day, Leweston Team 1 played some outstanding rugby, adhering to the gameplan of maintaining possession and working hard off the ball. After the group stages, Leweston Team 1 had registered three wins and a draw - earning a spot in the cup finals! After two very tight and hard fought matches, Leweston Team 1 finished in third place - a hugely impressive accomplishment!
Leweston Team 2 played some very free flowing 7s rugby and finished the group in third place after two losses and a win. They went on to face some tough opposition and finished the day in 14th place out of 20.
A hugely successful day for all our boys, and bodes well for the start of the 15s season in September!
