The award celebrates students who put the values of St Francis of Assisi into action in their everyday lives. Francis chose a life of kindness, humility and service, caring especially for those who were poor, vulnerable or excluded. The award recognises students who show kindness, compassion, respect, service, inclusion and resilience, along with care for others and for the school community. In doing so, they bring the principles of Catholic Social Teaching to life at Leweston.
Nominations are made by staff every half term. Students do not need to do anything extraordinary to be recognised. The award highlights the small actions that make a difference, such as holding a door open, including someone who is sitting alone, or quietly helping without being asked. Resilience is also one of the criteria, covering picking yourself up after a setback, carrying on with courage and a positive spirit, and supporting others who are finding things tough.
As well as receiving a certificate, each nominee has been given a reward and a special privilege to enjoy this week.
The school congratulates all of its first nominees and thanks the whole community for the everyday kindness that makes Leweston the place it is.
