Leweston Celebrates Achievements at First Sports Awards Evening

Written by Mr Manning, Head of Sport | Jul 3, 2025 9:30:12 AM

On Saturday 28 June, Leweston welcomed students, parents, and staff to our very first Sports Awards Evening—a special occasion to honour both individual and team achievements from across the academic year. Each year group celebrated its own Sports Personality of The Year (SPOTY), and we crowned our Team of the Year as well. Throughout the evening, Sports Prefects and staff shared highlights from the various sports seasons, while Sixth Form students added some fun with a sports quiz for each table. We were also delighted to receive congratulatory messages from renowned sports figures, including cricketers Tom Abell and Marcus Trescothick, Olympic gold medallists Alistair Brownlee and Peter Wilson, and a special cameo from Mr Cannon.

A genuine well done and thank you to all pupils who continue to contribute towards Leweston Sport, but a special mention to the following winners from the evening;

Year 7 SPOTY - Danny B
Year 8 SPOTY - Harry D
Year 9 SPOTY - Isabella R
Year 10 SPOTY - Millie R
Year 11 SPOTY - Esme L
Sixth Form SPOTY - Martha B

The Team of the Year Trophy was awarded to the Pentathlon Team, who continue to dominate at Regional, National and International events, firmly placing Leweston right at the forefront of Pentathlon within Great Britain. Other teams that were considered for the Team of the Year award were;

U13 Boys Hockey, 1st XI Boys Hockey, Junior Girls Cross Country, Equestrian Team  and U12 Girls Hockey
