Leweston Art and Design Showcase: A Celebration of Student Creativity

Written by Ms Lacey, Head of Art and Design | Jul 30, 2024 1:43:35 PM

In the first section, our Art and Design Scholars from Year 7 upwards showcased their individual creativity, featuring a range of specialisms from painting to metal crafting. This section provided a deep insight into the unique artistic expressions of our students.

The second section, housed in the Drawing Room, featured the GCSE coursework, exam outcomes, and sketchbooks. Year 11 students impressed with their work in 3D design, Fine Art, and Fashion and Textiles. From robot lights and Alice in Wonderland-inspired garments to portraiture, the variety and quality of their work was outstanding. Some pupils even took on two creative subjects, further showcasing their dedication and talent.

In the Eleanor Library, the A Level show was a testament to the advanced skills of our older students. Large-scale paintings, sculptures, and films were displayed alongside extraordinary photography outcomes, including portraits and vinyl sleeve covers. Fashion and textiles were also prominently featured, with intricate embroidery, laser-cut tapestries, full gowns, and contemporary high-fashion pieces. The installation art in our Dina Art Pathway was a highlight, featuring large-scale photography and imaginative props used for the dinner party exam question and magical, child-like tents.

The Exhibition also celebrated the future of our students, many of whom have secured places on prestigious creative courses, including foundation courses and BAs at Central Saint Martins. The offers received by our pupils were fantastic, reflecting the high standard of work produced this year.
