This morning the whole school came together for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy in the School Chapel. With Bible readings and hymns, everyone took time to mark the beginning of Lent, a time of spiritual growth, renewal, and a deepening of faith.
Ms O’Toole shared Pope Francis’ words from Ash Wednesday 2020, before the world went into lockdown, highlighting that we are 'dust loved by God'.
The Chaplaincy Team distributed the ashes on the foreheads of students and staff, these ashes are prepared by burning the palms blessed at last year's Palm Sunday.
The symbolism of ashes is the call to conversion, and that we are reminded of the importance of this season in our spiritual journey. It is not merely a time of giving up certain things, but a time of deepening our relationship with God and growing in our faith.
