The recent business BTEC assignment asked us to investigate the role and contribution of innovation and enterprise to the success of a chosen business. For my business, I decided to write about Samsung. Due to Samsung being a popular world-renowned company, I felt it was well suited to the assignment as the company has achieved great success, but I was also aware that technology is now a climacteric part of most people’s lives, including mine, therefore making it relevant to write about and uncomplicated to research.
For this assignment I had to consider how Samsung have adapted to an ever-changing technological market. In addition, I took into account the positives and negatives of how the company has managed innovation and enterprise, as well as different techniques they have utilised to remain highly desirable in a competitive field.
Following my written assignment, I was asked to complete a presentation about Samsung. The making of the PowerPoint was straightforward having recently written a piece relevant to the question. I would usually find presenting to someone challenging, but with the research I had already completed and the support from my teacher, I felt ready and confident to talk about Samsung.
The assignment linked well with what we have been learning in class. We have been studying the meaning of innovation and enterprise, as well as how different business structures and methods can bring about potential success. We also focused on company adaptability due to changes in the market and the possibility of bankruptcy.
The project experience, along with the whole BTEC course, has been vastly beneficial to me, from learning to write a lengthy assignment independently, to developing presentation skills. Such skills will aid me in any future career that I decide upon. Furthermore, I learnt about businesses in such depth that will help me to understand how to own or work for any company and better understand the incumbent functional processes within it.
