What do EAL classes look like at Leweston?

Engaging in vocabulary games and lively debates on different topics is a common sight in the EAL classroom. The small class sizes at Leweston allow for personalised lessons tailored to each student's abilities, with two dedicated teachers guiding the higher and lower-level classes in sync.

As a 'bring your device' school, students have access to a plethora of interactive programs on laptops to enhance their knowledge and skills. However, traditional methods like writing in books remain essential for honing spelling and grammar proficiency.

Students needing extra support can benefit from personalised 1:1 sessions with Mrs. Quick, Director of International Students, focusing on vocabulary and subject-specific topics. These sessions also aid in developing note-taking and essay writing skills.

In the Sixth Form, our international students are diligently working towards achieving their IELTS qualifications, with universities typically requiring a score of 6 or above for many courses.
