Leweston diverts all online traffic through a dedicated filtering system which is frequently updated to block access to sites that are deemed inappropriate.
Additionally, we have implemented measures to protect the school's network and data. This may include firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption protocols.
Furthermore, students are educated and encouraged to store their devices and care for them correctly. Secure storage areas such as their lockers are used when the device is not in use.
To ensure the successful implementation of a BYOD policy, support and training has been made available to students, teachers, and parents. This included training sessions, and online resources.
Students and staff have access to our IT Department's help desk where they can seek assistance when encountering technical difficulties or software-related issues.
In addition, we will continue to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of our BYOD policy and make necessary adjustments based on feedback from students, teachers, and parents.
While the shift to a BYOD school has brought about numerous positive changes, we have been diligent in ensuring that the introduction of laptops does not overshadow traditional teaching methods. Some tasks are still completed in traditional books or folders and assessments are handwritten for students, with exceptions for those with individual needs arrangements, this method aligns with the requirements of external exams and helps ensure students are well-prepared for them.
Books and writing remain as crucial as ever, but incorporating digital devices has significantly expanded the array of resources available to students.
